Angie, parent of Northwestern student: Choosing GradGuard was pretty much a no-brainer because the university recommended it. It was easy, it was affordable.

Hi, my name's Angie Hisanaga, and my daughter is a junior at Northwestern University outside of Chicago.

My daughter was going off to Northwestern. It was a requirement to have renters insurance in the dorm, and Northwestern provided a link to GradGuard Renters Insurance. It was easy, it was affordable, so that's what we did.

If I didn't have renters insurance for my daughter at school, I could worry about what would happen to their laptop, their iPad, their iPhone. Regardless, it would be a real challenge to replace them — but having GradGuard at least takes away the stress of having to pay 100% for the replacement.

GradGuard seemed like they had the process down, so we just went with it. It's really fantastic, and it looks like it's really tailored toward university life and the things that could happen.

After two years, when my daughter transitioned into an apartment, it was a requirement there too. Since we'd had such a good experience with GradGuard, that continued to be the easy option — we just renewed our policy with GradGuard while she was in an apartment.

I thought, I'm going to buy this and I'm never going to use it — it's just going to be money I've spent to know that I have it in case I need it.

Once we realized we actually had an opportunity to use the renters insurance we'd purchased — just seeing how much it covers, the broad swath of items and situations it would cover, and how easy it was to deal with — it's really nice.

GradGuard's really just given us peace of mind. I would totally recommend GradGuard. I've recommended it to some of her roommates this year, going into the apartment, just because we'd had such an easy experience when we had to use it.
